About the partner:
TU Dortmund University contributes through the Social Research Centre Dortmund (sfs), an established institute specialising in social science research on work and innovation. Founded in 1946, sfs became part of TU Dortmund University in 2007 and joined its Department of Social Sciences in 2020.
The centre studies how social innovations emerge and how they interact with technological change. Its research also explores the conditions needed for economically, environmentally and socially sustainable development. Through this work, sfs helps shape social, technological and environmental change.
Role in BRISA:
Integrating a human-centred perspective
TU Dortmund University helps ensure that BRISA’s solutions reflect the needs and experiences of the people who will use them. Its work focuses on making new safety measures practical, easy to understand and suitable for everyday use in industrial workplaces.
The team explores workers’ views, behaviours and working practices, involving them in the design of safety procedures, training and awareness activities. By bringing workers and other users into the process from an early stage, it helps shape solutions that they can trust and adopt.
TU Dortmund University also oversees the development of training materials, helping workers and professionals understand and apply BRISA’s new approaches to workplace safety.
