About the partner:
Warsaw University of Technology (WUT) is a Polish technical university conducting research and development across a wide range of technological fields. Its Faculty of Environmental Engineering studies water engineering, air protection and air quality, waste management, water and wastewater management, environmental monitoring and environmental technologies.
The faculty operates 37 specialised laboratories, supporting laboratory-scale and pilot-scale studies in areas including environmental microbiology, air quality, waste management, hydraulic testing and thermal processes. WUT also contributes to public engagement and science dissemination.
Role in BRISA:
Sustainable ELT recycling: emission control, worker exposure and textile valorisation.
WUT contributes to the end-of-life tyre recycling pilot hosted by ORZEŁ S.A. It carries out measurement campaigns under real industrial conditions to assess workers’ exposure to particulate matter, VOCs, polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs), per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS), and microplastics.
WUT is responsible for developing the pilot’s digital twin, combining monitoring and exposure data with modelling results. It also helps identify and assess ways to create value from textile fibres recovered from end-of-life tyres.
